Charity in 2010
January 15, 2010
One of the many things I want to accomplish in this New Year is to continue working with my favorite charities and conscious-driven groups I believe are out there fighting the good fight for good causes.
In 2009, I got to witness the awesome works of so many, like at the Noble Awards in Beverly Hills, where celebrities, like Lionel Richie and Nancy O’Dell, were honored for their charitable works. It was a reminder of just how many big names are lending helping hands.

At the Pointe Awards this year, celebrities, like Lilly Tomlin and Frenchie joined a star of the TV series “Lost” and others in helping raise scholarship money for gay kids who need a community to support them because their own families won’t.

At the mighty BraveHeart Awards, Les Brown and I presented the Courage Award to my Auntie Maya Angelou. Courtney Cox and Carol Channing were there! And I was proud to host for my Auntie in launching her “National Health Equity Plan” this year in New York City. I hosted her first event, sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue. Auntie is trying to raise awareness and resources for the fight against diseases that effect minorities.
